Paul and I decided to spend our honeymoon in Mykonos, Greece. An island of Greece, you can easily rent a quad and drive around the whole island (which we did). It was one of the most amazing places we have ever visited. I would suggest that you spend a couple of days in Mykonos and then take the ferry to Santorini and spend a couple of days there. The people are wonderful here and so are the many places to visit on this island.
Here are our favorite places/things to see in Mykonos:
1. Mykonos Ambassador Hotel. We stayed here for 10 nights and I can honestly say it was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. The service is impeccable and you can upgrade to a sea view room, which I highly recommend. The restaurant in the hotel was one of our favorites in Mykonos. The pool overlooks the sea and the spa has a salt pool and a fresh water pool you can detox in. The front office staff has many suggestions on what to do during your stay and the hotel is located right on Agios Ioannis Beach. The beach has a couple of restaurants that we suggest you check out if you don’t want to drive to the center. They even have authentic Greek dancing, which you have to partake in.

2. Rent a quad/Vespa. If you want to stay in a great resort hotel, you will have to travel to the center of Mykonos. I wouldn’t suggest doing it by bus or taxi as they take a long time and can get quite expensive. Paul and I went to the center of Mykonos the second day we rented a quad for 7 days- total cost was $150 (best money we ever spend). We were able to travel all around Mykonos with the quad and had many laughs when it stalled on the side of the road when it overheated (a worth-it adventure). You can really see the island if you travel by quad.
3. Shopping in Mykonos Town. Yes, white cobblestones/walls and blue shutters are the theme of this beautiful island. There are so many nooks and alleys in the center that have shops and places to eat. From souvenir shops to Hermes, you will get such a variety of things to spend your husband’s money on. You can just park your quad on the street and head down for hours upon hours of exploring.
4. Windmills. Right on the edge of Mykonos Town boasts these beautiful historical windmills. Make sure you wear your hair up because you can get blown away.

5. Little Venice. This district is located right next to the Windmills. If you want great seafood, stop by one of these restaurants and enjoy the sunset while sipping cocktails.
6. Delos Island. We decided to do a tour while we were in Mykonos. We took a boat to Delos Island, which holds the most amazing Greek artifacts and ruins. We were fascinated with the ruins on this island. Much of the ruins have been excavated and restored so you feel like you are walking around this city in 3000BC. We were able to see the various houses that people lived in as well as toilets and underground plumbing. It is also said that this is the island that Apollo and Artemis were born, below the only palm tree on the island. There is also a great museum there that holds many Greek artifacts.

5. Beaches. Looking to party on the beach? Paradise and Super Paradise beach are two of the best beaches to sip cocktails and hang with a young crowd. We had a great time people watching there. Elia Beach is also a great one and has a bunch of restaurants you can choose from.. which are equally amazing.

6. Paradise Night Club. This nightclub is one of the best in Mykonos. It is located right on the beach and beats with amazing DJs from all over the world. If you are a night owl (doors don’t open until 11pm) and want to party until the sunrise, this is the place to go. It is difficult to get there as there really isn’t a straight path anywhere in Mykonos, so we recommend you take the bus from Mykonos town to the club. You can also purchase tickets to the club in Mykonos Town.

7. Panagia Paraportiani Church. This beautiful church is located in Mykonos Town. It is absolutely stunning and overlooks the sea.
8. Petros the Pelican. Yes, he does exist (well his breed anyways b/c Petros died in 1986). Paul likes to do excessive Googling about the places we travel to, and he told me on our first day in Mykonos Town that there are pelicans that live in Mykonos. I naturally didn’t believe him and so we went on a journey to find these pelicans. After not being able to find them the first couple of days, I obviously started teasing Paul about these non-exhistent pelicans. Welp, I got owned on the third day in Mykonos Town when we stumbled upon a huge pelican chillin’ on one of the many alleyways of the center. He was quite impressive.
Safe Travels, G + P
